Title: A majestic Chinese wedding box with floral painting on a red colored background
Description: A mid 19th century large-sized Chinese wedding box. The wedding box typically occured as a pair of multilayered boxes used to transport dowry from the household of the bride to the household of the groom, and would include items such as jewelry, money, linen, mirrors, and chinaware. The large size of the box suggests having belonged to an exceptionally wealthy family. The box features four layers of storage space, floral and bird paintings surrounded by geometrical patterns on an auspicious red colored background, iron supportive structures and carrying rings, and beautiful ornamental carvings.
Condition: Excellent condition of artwork, carvings and box.
